Using this service

CheckReadability is a free tool that calculates readability scores for text you provide. You may use it for personal and commercial work, including analyzing content you write for clients or employers. No account is required and there are no usage fees.

What you may not do

• Submit text you do not have the right to process.
• Use automated scripts to send requests at a volume that degrades the service for other people.
• Attempt to breach, probe, or disrupt the site or its infrastructure.
• Present the service as your own product, or resell access to it as a standalone service.

Accuracy of scores

Readability formulas are statistical estimates based on counts of words, sentences, syllables and characters. They cannot judge whether writing is accurate, logical, appropriate, or well argued, and different formulas will legitimately disagree with each other about the same passage. Scores from this site are provided for guidance only. Where a grade level carries legal or regulatory weight - for example plain-language requirements in health, insurance, or government communication - you should confirm results against the standard that applies to you rather than relying on this tool alone.

Availability

The service is provided as-is and as-available. We may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of it at any time, and we do not guarantee uninterrupted access.

Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, CheckReadability is not liable for any indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of the service, or from decisions made on the basis of the scores it produces.

The Chrome extension

These terms also cover the Check Readability Chrome extension. Its use is additionally subject to the Chrome Web Store terms.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the service after an update means you accept the revised terms.
